In 1996, Rabbi Mechanic decided to assist the Yeshivos and Day Schools in reinforcing and strengthening the Yiddishkeit of their students. Through Project Chazon, he began to present comprehensive Hashkafah seminars to students and their teachers throughout the United States, Canada, and England. His fascinating Shiurim are presented in over 400 schools, with the endorsement of leading Gedolim, Roshei Yeshiva, and Principals worldwide. He is also the Rabbi Morris I. Esformes Professor Emeritus at the University of Chicago and Chief of Medicine at Jackson Health System. He is responsible for the research and scholarly activity and clinical enterprise of over 360 full time faculty and 850 voluntary faculty with a budget including $210M in revenue and expenses. Dr. Weiss’ leadership at University of Miami the past 2.5 years as well as the past 29 years in Chicago has been devoted to providing the latest innovations to health care, discovery science and education. As a physician scientist his career has been devoted to diagnosis and treatment of genetic diseases of the thyroid with the discovery of new genes and mechanisms of thyroid hormone action and disease. He lives in Miami Beach with his wife Fay and is a member of Beis Menachem in Miami Beach.
